Son Ford Thomas
Son Ford Thomas (October 14, 1926 – June 26, 1993) held the philosophy that "we all end up in clay." He dug clay from the banks of the Yazoo River near his home and created sculptures of heads, skulls and men in coffins. Sometimes he even used real teeth gleaned from the discards at the local dentist office. These sculptures he left unfired; they have a gritty and raw feel. Son Ford also was famous as a blues singer and guitar player.
